Been a while since we’ve had a slideshow post so here’s one of a sunset from the evening of October 20, 2006. In the near distance you can see the city of Albany and Golden Gate Fields. Further out and across the bay I believe the actual Golden Gate Bridge is on the left, followed by Sausalito, Tiburon, and the rest of the North Bay. Angel Island is there as well but I can’t quite make it out.
Besides late night, dusk is my other favorite part of the day. There’s a point when I’m looking at a sunset where time seems to stop and I lose myself in the moment. A few minutes later, I snap out of the trance and the night begins, bringing with it its own set of bustling activities.
Been awhile since I’ve posted a non-food-related slideshow pic; tonight’s is one taken from the Star Ferry on its way to TST. From left to right you can see the Convention Centre, the Bank of China Tower, Cheung Kong Centre, and the rest of the Central waterfront skyscrapers. As I’ve mentioned many times before, it’s incredible how small Hong Kong is.
From one celestial body to another, for today’s slideshow post we have a photo of the setting sun, taken on a ferry from Cheung Chau to Hong Kong. I initially thought that the mountains were part of Lantau Island, but on closer inspection they may be from Hei Ling Chau.
Only in smoggy Hong Kong could you get a sunset like this; the particulates in the air create a natural filter for the sun’s light.
My desktop slideshow must currently be biased to the photos I took on November 29, 2011. Here is another from that day, taken atop of Twin Peaks in San Francisco. It really was a foggy day that day, wasn’t it?
