Playing beer catch-up tonight – Friday was Skol. I’ve almost sampled all the beer at Circle K. There’s still Budweiser and Pabst Blue Ribbon, but I’m not sure I want to try those since they’ll be readily available back in the U.S. Now that I think about it, I should probably be thorough and just do it. Still plenty of opportunities left.

Yanjing 燕京

Yanjing Beer

Tonight we have Yanjing Beer, the official state beer of China (don’t know this for a fact but that’s what Wikipedia says). It looks like I have the draft version, consisting of “materials” such as mineral water, high grade malt, rice, and hops. So, a nice rice beer. It’s “quality grade” is “excellent”.

San Miguel

Another beer that’s been known of since childhood: San Miguel. I guess you can say that this and Carlsberg were the two most prevalent beers in Hong Kong in the 80s, in terms of advertising and visibility to a kid under 10 years old. If I had to pick one that was prevalent now, I’d definitely pick Blue Girl. Will probably post before my time here is up.
