Are things always as simple as they seem? That help desk agent that I chewed out today for prioritizing a ticket incorrectly, was it just a matter of someone not paying attention and not doing their job? Or was there more to it than that?
Could it be that the help desk agent, homed in a third world country, walks by a slum every day on his way to work? That what he calls “home”, someone in my home country would call a port-o-potty? That everywhere he goes, all he sees is poverty and desperation? Would it be farfetched to say that the people calling him, asking for his support, make 10, 100, or even 1000 times more money than he does? Does any of this excuse doing a bad job?
Fuck this shit, man. I’m just a man, I don’t have all the answers.
